host a winter portrait party!

i just want to let you know about the hostess benefit for hosting a portrait party in january, february, or march.  in addition to receiving a free 8×10 for hosting and 15% of your total guest sales in print credit ($2000 party gives you over $300 of free prints), you will also receive a free gallery book (a book of all your party proofs printed as 4x6s and spiral bound with a hard photo cover…retailing for $300 in 2009).

that means you get a lot of free pictures!

so, if you are interested, think about who you might invite that may be in this group (keep in mind that i dont do groups/families for studio sessions as the interactions style that i love to capture is best acheived with more space) and shoot out an email to them…

1. newborns
2. kids who have birthdays in the winter who need their “annual photo shoot”…a one year shoot, a two year shoot, a 5 year shoot?
3. a pregnant mom
4. a baby’s first year pictures…3 month, 6 month, 9 month picture
5. a child’s “just for fun” pictures…ballerina girl, fun hats, naked bellies.
6. photo shoot for a “my favorite things” collage.

if you have an interested group and want to book a date, shoot me an email!

i snuck a few pictures of sam when he was over to play today.  sam is claire and andrews little buddy who hangs out with us every week when his mom helps at his sisters school.  here are a couple…

jesus loves me

wreckless praise from my little ones.  that is what makes me most joyful to see in my kids.  the bigger ones lose it a bit as they get older, but lately ive enjoyed watching it in claire, my youngest.  she came home from church on sunday singing a song and doing motions that i have never worked with her on.  it was refreshing to be reminded lately in a number of different ways why we as believers need the church community.  why ive never taught claire to sing “jesus loves me” or do the motions… im not sure.  but it was a delight to know that someone else stepped in and taught it to her for me.  that is community. “dus, we-sus me!” (she blends the sus from jesus and the loves into one word)

this arms-up-high-in-the-air-singing-praises look  is pretty consistent for claire.blog-praise_559x800

happy birthday to me!

i got a fabulous birthday gift from my photographer (and regular) friend, rachel.  (i was going to change that last sentence where i called her my “regular friend”, but it makes me laugh so im keeping it).  we became friends through our mutual photography careers but our friendship has grown to be about more than just about photography and i really appreciate our thursday chats over coffee and playing (or arguing) kids.  ANYWAY, i got this blog from rachel and her uber-talented, custom professional photography blog creating husband, jared  for my birthday present because basically, my old blog sucked.  this one will allow for my posted photos to be much bigger and its just  so easy to customize and create not to mention that i love how it has my sites url in it.  so thank you to jared and rachel, i really appreciate it!

and since no post is complete without it, i am adding a few photos of rachel. the middle one is one that i took of rachel while she was taking photos of me a couple weeks ago.  i love it.  such a marriage of the words that make up the phrase “mommy photographer”.img_0025img_04514img_0059
